    Adventures In Uploading
Sorry folks, I tried to get X.Org in to experimental last night, but fate conspired against me with a number of weapons. First, my upload decided to hang after I left it to run for a while. This left me with an incomplete upload. I then had to learn to use dcut (which I hadn't even heard of before) to remove incompletely uploaded packages and try to upload the remainder via ftp. Then my ftp client crashed, making me repeat the process. Then I was notified that I used the wrong version number (we're using a rather complicated version number for the packages), and on top of that I'd messed up in making the .orig.tar.gz earlier that morning. At this point I had to rebuild the packages anyway and I was getting frustrated, so I gave up for the night.

Anyway, I'm rebuilding the .orig.tar.gz and I'll be rebuilding the packages soon thereafter. The remaining issue is that ftp-master is moving so even if I do upload the packages today they probably won't propagate to the mirrors anyhow. What I'm thinking of doing in the meantime is uploading them to someone's private repo and finishing up the remaining items on our TODO list to get a first run of X.Org packages in to unstable. This basically involves auditing all the patches and making sure there are no obvious regressions from the current XFree86 packages. We may also change some things in the build system, but that's a secondary concern.

Anyways, things are in motion, and I'll get X.Org to you one way or another. I really quickly want to thank everyone who's been supportive while I've been working on this (you know who you are) and to everyone in #debian-devel and #debian-women who helped me out of a number of jams yesterday. You are all made of awesome.
